This unit has been inspected and is in great working order. This 7 is not for the collector but the audiophile due to all the work that has been done. The pots are clean; there is no scratching when the knobs are turned. The switches work crisply. The bass is clear and well-defined, without loss of clarity. This is the best sounding Marantz 7 we have even owned or sold ever! Orig caps were replaced with highend Musicaps. Volume control has been replaced with 4db step type pot. This is done for better control and zero noise. The bass and trible controls have been bypassed for a pure stright single with less music loss for the purest sound. Filter's have been bypassed as well. RCA output to amp have been upgraded as well. This has a huge soundstage and has a amazing 3D holographic sound. We have tryed McIntosh, Proceed, Krell, Mark Levinson and many other preamps and YES this does sound better!! Runs on 6 brand new EH 12ax7's.  Honestly if you really wanted the best sounding preamp this very well might be it. There are some light scratches on the faceplate (see pictures). On the top panel, there is a scratched in the middle (shown). There is a multitude of inputs on the rear panel, including Stereo, Microphone, Phono 1, Phono 2, Tape, FM-AM, FM Multiplex, TV, and Aux. The mode selector offers Stereo, Stereo Reverse, Channel A, Channel A+B, and Channel B. The Marantz 7 is ideal for the devotee of vinyl, because it allows practically any vinyl format to sound its best through this stage. There are two stereo output pairs, which makes bi-amping possible. This unit would fit perfectly into either a vintage or modern high-fidelity system.
